Welcome

Hello, I’m Daniel Knapp, a LEED Accredited professional in Ottawa working on green building and energy efficiency. I’m volunteering with the Ottawa chapter of the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) as the organizer of a monthly technical lunch seminar, researching building energy simulation with eQUEST, and writing a blog on sustainability.

My education is in physics, and I have a strong background in advanced computer modelling of physical and chemical processes. I have completed and published in peer-reviewed journals a number of projects on chemical reactions in fuel cells, on the electronic structure of high-temperature superconductors in magnetic fields, and on signal detection of gravitational waves, and I have presented my work at many international scientific conferences.

In pursuit of my interest in making science more accessible to all I have volunteered for a number of educational initiatives and worked on issues faced by women in physics.
